Discover London: A Perfect Long Weekend Itinerary with Hotel Perks
As our first solo trip post-baby, we landed at Heathrow and took a car to a serene treat, set on 438 picturesque acres. Just an hour away from London, Heckfield Place features 60 cozy and well-designed rooms, a new spa called The Bothy by Wildsmith, and two exceptional farm-to-table restaurants. We began our stay with a farm and estate tour to see the beautiful grounds, spending the rest of our stay kicking back and enjoying the hotel’s peaceful atmosphere.
With only 24 hours at Heckfield Place, here’s what we did:
Lunch at Marle
Spent the day at The Bothy, using the sauna, pool, and jacuzzi, 90-minute massages, and relaxation room
Drinks at Moon Bar
Dinner at Hearth
Pilates and room service the next morning, before getting picked up by Discover Real London for our ride to London and 3-hour city tour
Our perfectly-sized room was a “Guest Room” on the top floor overlooking the gardens. The spa was stunning and quite possibly the best I have ever been to, and the food, which is grown on the premises or sourced locally, was incredible. Daily tea and cake was offered at Marle in the afternoon—a delightful highlight. Our only regret is that we only spent one night! Heckfield Place is the perfect start to any trip to the UK and we will most certainly be back again, next time for a minimum of 2 nights.
If you book a stay at Heckfield Place with us, you’ll receive the below perks:
Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
Daily breakfast for up to two guests per bedroom, served in the restaurant and via in-room dining
$100 USD equivalent Food & Beverage credit to be utilized during stay
Early Check-In / Late Check-Out, subject to availability
Complimentary Wi-Fi
Now, the main event: London!
After our tour we were dropped off at our hotel, the new and noteworthy At Sloane in the charming Chelsea neighborhood. The service was excellent, the room stunning, with a swanky, speakeasy in the basement and a romantic restaurant with a secret menu on the 6th floor.
At Sloane is the perfect hideaway for any couples trip with a button to push for “love” lighting, a drawer full of complimentary candy and snacks for your own movie night, and photos of famous couples lining the walls. If you book with us, you’ll receive a complimentary upgrade at booking to the next room category and free breakfast for the duration of your stay.
With three nights in London, here’s what we did:
Shopped along King’s Road and within Chelsea stopping at Rixo, Varley, Temperly London, and Anya Hindmarch Bespoke
Brunch at Beam, Granger & Co., and Vardo
Dinner at At Sloane, Kutir (a hidden gem!), and Zephyr
Watched Chelsea destroy West Ham 5-0 at Stamford Bridge!
Drinks at Chiltern Firehouse (after the game) and the At Sloane Bar
Wandered Notting Hill with a visit to Westbourne Grove, Portobello Road, and Lancaster Road
Stocked up on insanely cute baby girl apparel at Petit Bataeu and Bonpoint (couldn’t help myself!)
More shopping in Marylebone and at Harrods and Harvey Nichols
High Tea at The Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon at Fortnum and Mason (Brandon LOVED his first high tea experience with unlimited sandwiches, scones, and pastries!)
Though we saw all the sights on our tour, we went back for a closer look at Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Saint Paul’s Cathedral, and Buckingham Palace
Brandon’s exhausted and needs a vacation from our vacation. I’m ready to plan our next trip to London! Since we couldn’t hit them all, here are a few more spots to add to your London itinerary:
Dinner at Gold, Bibi, or Jikoni
Drinks at Red Room At the Connaught or Duke’s London for their famous martini
See a show on the West End
High tea at Brown’s Hotel or Claridges
